The Right Attorney Can Make All the Difference

Jaclyn Giffen grew up in Markham and spent wonderful summers at her cottage in the Kawartha Lakes area. In 2005, she attended the University of Ottawa in a four year Honour's program where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Social Sciences Degree, specializing in Political Science and Women's Studies. Jaclyn spent her last semester of her undergraduate degree interning with a Member of Parliament at Westminster in London, England while studying at the London School of Economics. Ms. Giffen then attended the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Law to complete her Common Law degree (Juris Doctor) concurrently with her Master of Arts Degree, specializing in Human Rights and Security at the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs. Upon graduation, Jaclyn worked to complete her articling requirements as the sole Student-at-Law for a twenty-lawyer firm in Ottawa (Langevin Morris Smith LLP). She helped provide legal services predominantly in the areas of Criminal Defence, Family Law, Civil Litigation, Real Estate, Immigration and Estate Law. She had the opportunity to successfully complete Youth Justice Court trials, Small Claims Settlement Conferences and trials, Enforcement Proceedings, Landlord and Tenant Board Hearings, Statements of Claim for the purposes of litigation for Motor Vehicle Accidents, Insurance Benefits, and much more. Ms. Giffen was called to the Bar of the Law Society of Upper Canada in June of 2014.

Jaclyn is hoping to bring her passion for human rights and civil liberties as she starts her career as a Lawyer in the Kawartha Lakes and Peterborough area. Her home office located on King Street East in Omemee is her main office for scheduled appointments, while also offering the option of home attendance for those who cannot readily travel or fit travel time into their busy schedules. Ms. Giffen is happy to be establishing her family in the Kawartha Lakes region for the foreseeable future. Ms. Giffen is fluent in English, and able to communicate in French, Spanish and basic Sign Language. Jaclyn is also an avid runner and is excited to explore the local trails and lakes in the area.
